Adam Plack began his diverse musical training in his homeland, Australia. As a child growing up in a house of classical musicians, Adam began learning violin, piano, guitar and voice at a very young age. While he showed promise with these instruments Adam could not resist the allure of the loose improvisations on his dad’s jazz records. This prompted him to begin listening to his own soul for inspiration, which prepared Adam for his next instrument, the didgeridoo. While musically no instrument could be farther from the polyphonic violin, piano or guitar Adam found it both culturally and creatively liberating:
It would be the Didgeridoo and the bush lands surrounding his home in Melbourne, Australia that would inspire Adam to create his first album “Dawn Until Dusk” followed by “Winds of Warning”. Both albums feature rich, textural Aboriginal chants, incorporating western musical styles and instrumentation with the raw and earthy sounds of the outback.
By his next album, Adam had officially adopted the moniker Nomad and continued to build on the influences of the Australian Outback. Like his previous endeavors Nomad continued his quest to bridge the cultural gap between the Aboriginal and Euro-Australian people. To do this Nomad lived among the Aboriginal community in Arnhem Land which resulted in the self-titled album “Nomad”. This album gained Adam notable success charting in the top ten in billboard in the United States, and a nomination for an ARIA, (Australian Record Industry Award) in Australia.
Living in New York and running his own record label, Adam eventually joined with the likes of Deepak Chopra, Madonna, and several other celebrities to create “A Gift of Love: Music Inspired by the Love Poems of Rumi”. This album interleaved soulful, down-tempo grooves with the spirited voice of Deepak Chopra and was so successful that a follow-up album, “A Gift of Love II: Oceans of Ecstasy” was soon in the works. “A Gift of Love II” featured an even more impressive roster of celebrities (including Sinead O’Connor, Marisa Tomei, and Angelica Huston to name a few) reading from Chopra’s translation of Tagore over Placks soothing and timeless groves.
In the midst of Adam’s work with Deepak he found time to continue along the path he had set out on in Australia with his next album “Songman”. The single “With You” became extremely popular and reached Number 2 on the billboard dance charts and won an ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Award.
Adams next album titled “Coco De Mer” was ground breaking. A lush fusion of European Opera, live orchestration, and sensual down tempo dance grooves. Coco De Mer inspired the soundtrack to Emmy nominated director Michael Rymers feature film Perfume.
Adam Plack is currently residing in Los Angeles continuing to compose music for feature film and TV.
